i.e. when you need support in the beginning, you likely won’t get it. then when you’ve made it, it’s “cool” to show support and everyone will miraculously wonder how you became an overnight success..
when i started the business, i thought things would grow quick - like i’d be able to pay myself within 6 months.
i don’t think i’ve ever been more wrong.
the journey has been tough. mentally, personally, financially.
i don’t know what the future holds but this is a quick income breakdown of 2020 through 2022:
I saved $20k from 2018-2020, quit my job & invested everything into Piertree, quickly lost money, and then slowly started making some - over three years (2020-2023).
roughly 1,000 days of going to sleep, waking up, and not knowing if everything is going to fall apart or if I’d be able to cover whatever costs life threw my way.
while i don’t believe that route is necessary for everyone, in my mind, there was no other option.
and for me, everything began on july 29th, 2020 - while i was doing doordash, putting rent on credit, and writing articles into the void from my Wix website:
last thought: the number of people who’ve shown support since the beginning tells me that few people actually want to be part of a story, they’d rather watch the movie.
